But please where do you all get your info from then? surley most of you are subscribed to it,there is so much to see if you pay.
I used to top up 5.00 a time for gr ,but because i am so useless it cost me a fortune...I got a fair way with another line of my family though.
Where do you get your census info from bmd etc.

Thats the beauty of this site many RootsChatters subscribe to lots of different sites but it would be totally out of the question to subscribe to every site the cost would be enormous. So thats why we are happy to pool our resourse's to keep the costs to a minimum and to share the years of experience with others.

What--I think I subscribe to most of the sites--well the main one for sure.  Then I have a tall stack of parish record transcripts for Durham and Northumberland that if I see that someone has some family member hailing from there in the years I own--I look them up.

There is the free BMD  http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/   it is not complete but nearly there.  It is also available on Anc***.com but I don't know if that part is free as I have been a subscriber for 10 years.  Depending on where you are as to how you would want to order certs.  I tend to use the GRO as it works best with a credit card.  The Durham site is able to use credit/debit cards too but they charge for postage.  For the IGI extracted records I use the Hugh Wallace site  http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm

Lot of things available and most of us here would rather help folks out than say--dust or do laundry.
