Hi, Thank you for both link's... I am going to get in touch with the parish priest at Crookstown in the next few day's. Wylam looks a wonderful place. I have just found some interesting info on the net of St Mary & St Laurence. I noted Father Cullen & James Maher these are some of the surnames that appear as sponsor's at Callaghan baptism's..I am not reading anything into that! There are also Bryne's and many more. It is intriguing as to who these people where. The aunt, I mentioned was a Sister of Mercy. There was a school founded, I believe by the Sister's of Mercy in Athy; several Callaghan's were baptized at St Michael's in Athy. One of the school guardian's elected, was a Patrick Maher of Kilrush a place where my Callaghan/Maher lived. Just to make it more intriguing my g.g. grandfather William Callaghan ( the son of Thomas) married a Mary Maher daughter of a Patrick Maher... Don't you just love family history... who need's a Wii!! I do sit and wonder if my aunt knew the history of The Sister's of Mercy at Athy. She was an avid reader of books she had a high intellect, headmistress and teacher. I know in later life she returned to Ireland on a visit..
