Hi I am a descendent of the  Rammell Adams bloodline.
My mother is Sylvia Gloria Ann Savage (named after her aunt), daughter of Raymond Reginald Walter Savage who is the brother of Sylvia Edna May Savage.  They also had a brother called Eric. This makes Annie Rammell Adams + Reg Walter Savage my great grandparents also.
Unfortunately Raymond Savage recently died. My maltese relatives are over here ( my mums half brothers family from his previous marriage when Raymond was stationed there in the 40's)
Raymond had 6 children that we definately know about and possibly more!
This makes Anne Miles my mum Sylvia's cousin.
Sylvia has 2 children myself (Lois Coltman) and Greg Coltman

We have had a busy time since Raymonds death figuring out the who's who of the savage bloodline
This is an amazing find!!!
I would love a copy of the photo of Elizabeth Rammell Adams if that would be possible?  my Grandfather said I reminded him of his mother (Annie, he was only 10 when she died), maybe there is a likeness to his Aunt Elizabeth too!
Were any of the Rammell Adams from Totnes in Devon ??? (Reginald Walter Savage was a Lance Sergt in in 2nd Bn Devonshire Regiment stationed in Quetta India) ???

Hi Gillian, nice to hear from you, this is all very interesting!

I will be able to get some photos i'm sure.  Thankyou for the info, i am pleased to hear that the family were from Totnes as Raymond said.  I work in totnes (coincidentally) and will see if there is any information about our family in the local archives.  It is a lovely little town with a very vibrant local community and they have their own museum.
I will send my email as you said..

Regards
 Lois

Hello All,

I am researching tangents.

Found a report in The Brisbane Courier for the death of Mr Thomas Lake Rammell (b. 1836 Sturry) who drowned in a waterhole of the Condamine river, NSW, Aus. 12/12/1870

http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/search?searchTerm=Thomas+Lake+Rammell

not a lot but original

and there's a bit about Thomas Lake Rammell's nephew Dr George Rammell Footner O.B.E, M.B, F.R.C.S. (1879 - 1943). His obituary is quite an interesting read...

http://www.jstor.org/pss/20326424

Am looking up the Sobraon which sailed with James Rammell on board in 1881 to Australia....

Just for anyone who is interested...

Hi Lois,

Yes there are quite a few snippets of interesting Rammell info about.

If you find out what James was doing in Australia I would be very interested to hear. He died 1914 in Drummoyne NSW. I don't know whether he married or not. His brother Edward also sailed out to see him just before he died.

James went to Australia just after the death of his mother Fanny in 1880 Ilfracombe.

Regards,

Gillian

Hi Lois - George Rammell Footner was my grandfather - I couldn't get that link you posted to work - any chance you could get it to me another way?  I can provide my email address if that's easiest?

Thanks
Jeremy
