Immigrants lookup - Eng > Aust. - please
« on: Monday 14 February 05 00:05 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I am running into brick walls trying to find out when/where/which ship various ancestors arrived in Australia.  The only ones I have found are my Piddingtons, Annie & George who arrived on the 'North' in 1883, and the Godleys who arrived on the 'Fitzjames' in 1858.

The ones I am trying to find are -

(in or before 1848) - Constantine C. McCusker, born about 1823

(in or before 1848) - Ellen Galbraith, born about 1830

( In or before 1861) - James Miller (maybe with wife Mary) ??

Most likely they all came in to Sydney, but it is also possible that they arrived in Moreton Bay, and travelled overland to the Armidale/Uralla areas where they settled.   I have even checked Port Phillip arrivals, to no avail.

Hoping that somebody can help me, please ??
Many thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Ally

Hi Ally,

I am also looking for immigration details of my Great Grandfather Alexander Galbraith bn 1825 in Ayrshire . He emmigrated to Australia in the 1840's. I haven't been able to locate any details of what ship he arrived on. Where  was Ellen Galbraith born? I wonder if they were related in some way?

Lyn.

Hi.  Just saw your posting.  It's an old one, so you might already have this information, but in case you don't, Constantine Mc Cusker came to Australia on the "Runneymede" which arrived in Sydney on the 30.08.1841.  His name is spelt incorrectly - Coucas but the page is very detailed and lists his parents and where he came from.

Regards,
Sharon
