Absolutely...the generosity and the expertise, helpful hints/suggestions and historical tidbits.... are very much appreciated. Thanks to all for any tiny bits that get me inch by inch to my elusive kinfolk...Happy New Year to all and may this be the Year of knocking thru the brickwalls so may of us have....

Here here!! May our walls fall to reveal all this year!!

May I also take the time to say a sincere thanks for all the help I have received on public forums and by PM here on this site - I hope I have returned same in kind to some.

Rootschat has been a revelation of people's spirit if not always of my ancestors (!) and I appreciate greatly the help it gives and the sense of achievement received while helping others - long may we all continue to look forward while looking back!!

Hopefully replying will come with familiarity jumpinjane - for a basic reply just click on the icon [reply] and type your message into the message box and click [post]

You can be all fancy with colour and bold etc if you want to but its not necessary!!

Now you have 3 posts the easiest way to send a private message (PM) is to look at the left of your screen where the person's user name is located and below it and any picture they may use are two symbols; one looks like a green scroll (hover your mouse/cursor over it and it will say (private message and whether the person is online or offline) - click on this and write your message
You can also click on the user name which will show you the profile of the user and at the bottom of this screen is a link to PMs as well

Happy hunting!!

I've just joined, having been bitten by the family research bug a year ago. This seems a very helpful community and I'm looking forward to participating.

Hi Cronky and Jane,
The main thing I have foundin Family History, is know the different sites to go to get the information.
There is so much out there, it's just finding it.
Good luck.

That is so true, especially when you hit a brick wall and it all seems to go pear shaped and you could pull your hair out in frustration, but there is usually someone who can help.

Then its another brick in the wall towards your unknown ancestors. In a way its almost like being a member of a very large family.
