No, Alison- this topic is for general comments abiout the usefulness of Rootschat.

However, there are lots of other places to post a query. Have a look at the Forum page and you'll see all the boards listed. If your question covers more than one board or you still aren't sure where to go then post in Beginners board (if there's a better place one of the moderators will move it for you).

not will it be, "it is"... it always is!, its always my first port of call when I have a problem, and usually I get an answer within minutes!, some, granted are questions that are just not able to be answered because of lack of records, how far back etc etc... but yes, this site to me, is one of the 3 sites i use more than any, as a forum... i havent seen one at all that can better it, the other 2 sites, I use hand in hand with it as they are record sites, which i can then come on here after finding out... whatever... and discovering the missing links that the records dont quite manage to marry up

Love it,.... simply love it

I don't know - there seem to be some very helpful people out there but my first ever post - a lookup request - wasn't answered, so I don't know whether my request breached some kind of protocol. :(

Hi Walsh,

Welcome to RootsChat :)

No, you haven't breached any protocoll or done anything wrong :)

Looking at your request,
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,475277.0.html
it also seems to call for local knowledge so there may not be an immediate response.

regards,
Bob

One I have come across is where a couple, both in a second marriage and had children from a first marraige - his, hers and theirs scenario
His first marriage children and her first marriage children were absolutely no relation to each other but they were described as half siblings
They were however half siblings to the children of the second marriage!
I dont think that that is the case here, though. They married aged 25'ish in 1875.  There was also an archibald Wallace Hinshel?.... one or two others and a Christine Smith aged 30. I have tried to find them on census, also births
no joy.  Marcie  Last resort maybe the LDS

Is there a particular difficulty in finding your way around the site that we can help you with?

Lewis, I see you only registered at 17.00 today, just take your time, you will make mistakes, learn from them. It took me some weeks to get even fairly competent on the site, some would no doubt dispute that I am yet after 21 months.
