I think the site is great - fairly new to it but have received alot of fantastic help and I have tried to help a couple of times too- It gives me a break when I work on someone elses headache for a while.

I have tried to access the Surname board all week but it says closed for maintenance any idea how long anybody.  I only went onto it once and it looked promising.

I think you've expressed a feeling that many users of this board have.  :)
Pete
Most roots researched back to the early/mid 1800s. Years noted as 'pre' refer to my direct ancestors, although I'm interested in any relatives:
Mitchelstown, Co.Cork: CORBETT (pre1935), SWEENEY  (pre1935), CUSACK? (pre1894), KEYS? (pre1894)
Mallow, Co.Cork: BROWNE (1895-1935)
Caher, Co.Tipp: BROWNE (pre1895), PURTELL(pre1895)
Cashel, Co.Tipp: FANNING (pre1886)
Llanelly, Carms: GRIFFITHS (pre1934), REYNOLDS (pre1901), WILLIAMS (pre1934)
Ton Pentre, Glams: LEWIS (pre1901)

So, as ever, we are entirely in the hands of the maintenance people. The possible lengthe that the facility is likely to be unavailable would be welcomed.

How long IS apiece of string?

The correct answer, taking into account what the pieces of string is to be used for, is "as long is needs to be"

All moderators and admins and programmers are volunteers, who do this in their spare time.

the facility is likely to be unavailable
as long as it needs to be, to maintain it properly.
