It's a wonderful site........having registered for the first time a couple a days ago, I've had a fantastic response to my first posting.
Not only have I found additional family members, I've also received some brilliant tips!
This site is now at the top of my 'favourites' list!  :D

Keep up the good work!
Angela.

I love this site, so a definite yes from me.  I haven't posted much yet, but people are so friendly and helpful - not the experience I've had on some other sites.  :P I'm not a professional geneaologist, just a person trying to learn more about my family history - who they were, where they came from, what their lives might have been like, so it's nice that people here don't scorn my efforts. As well, I often just read through the posts getting research ideas and just enjoying the fascinating stories that come up - great reading for lunchtimes at work!

Hi and a Happy St.Valentines day to you all!

I only joined RootsChat just over a week ago and I have received more information about a missing relative than I have found in  years of searching.

So a big Thank You to RootChat members Erato,Jacquie, lilybell,Kayceebee5 and KarenM.

I have also passed on RootsChat.com to other people who are interested in Genealogy.

Thank you.

Welcome AandE and Happy St Valentines.
That's the way it goes. A lot of us belong to theBBC Family Trees Messageboard, but it's very restricted compared to Roots, no PMs no Photo Restore. We are always urging newcommers there to come over here.

A VERY BIG THANKYOU

One of the postings in the Comman Room is "do you think Roots Chat will be of any help to you"?
well my story is ,I submitted a posting on the Derbyshire and also the Cheshire page, asking for any information regarding  my family name Hill and also I requested information about the area, Newspapers etc . I had replies very quickly to the area request but nothing much about my Hill family.
Then lo and behold I received a reply  from someone who it turns out is actually a  cousin I had lost contact with 50 years ago.
She had not actually visited the Root Chat site , but had entered a name on google and it brought up my posting.
So the answer to the question is a very big YES
So a very BIG THANKYOU goes to Roots chat and all its members from a very happy lady.
PS, my cousin is now a member

Matsmam.

A definate yes as it already has on quite a few occasions.  I must admit I felt a bit guilty about posting so many queries but everyone is very helpful and friendly.  (thought I may be taking too much of peoples time).  Many thanks to everyone who have helped me. Pat
