I have the complete index for St Giles in 1851, so if you let me know who it is you are looking for, I will probably be able to find them for you if they are still resident in St Giles Registration District.  This will also save time, as the residents of 17 Brook Street may well be irrelevant to your research.

Hi Rick
According to a marriage certificate that I have, at Sept 14th 1851, Thomas Chapple (Chappell) (b Enfield c1832) and Mary Griffiths (b Bristol c1827) were living at 17 Brook Street. They may not have been there at the time of the census but were probably in the area somewhere. I'm assuming the parish is St Giles as that was where they were married.

Thanks for your help.

Jackie

Hi Jackie

I have checked the complete 1851 Census index for St Giles Registration district - HO107/1507-1509 but I couldn't find a listing for Thomas CHAPEL/CHAPPELL/CHAPLE at all or a Mary GRIFFITH(S) born Bristol.

Addresses on marriage certificates, especially in London, do tend to turn out to be accomodation addresses and not family homes unfortunately.

Sorry
Rick :)

Hi Rick,
Thanks anyway. How about a Cath(a)erine Chappell (Chapple) or a John Chappell (Chapple) His occupation was a Baker. They would be around 50 years of age.

Thanks

Jackie

I'm afraid not.  There is a WR CHAPPELL, 40, Victualler, b Kent and his wife Charlotte, 60.  at ref. HO107/1509 262b
