Alexander Lennox/Margaret Hedley family

Hi Laura....

I thank you for your reply....my Heldey's are related to the Close's, as are the Lennox's thru the Hedley Close line....However, my Closes' are presbyterian....it was not uncommon for them to cross religion's thru marriage...my Grt Grandmother was a Lawlor (catholic) maried a Close and is listed as presbyterian in the 1911 census, however was a practicing catholic upon her arrival in Canada.

The Closes' I have appear to have originated (at this point) circa 1840 in the area of Magheragall (near lisburn) and many are buried in the Magheragall church yard.  My grt grt grandmother was Susannah Hedley, this is where he Lennox name comes in...alexander married margaret Hedley the daughter of Robert Henry Hedley and Jessica Cummings.

Just noticed the question on Duffs.

I have Daniel Duff married Margaret Kerr 1868-1929
and their children married into lines of Monaghan, Morton and Malone.

My family were the main families of Lancaster Street Belfast.
Richard went to the USA and Daniel Duff went to Scotland.

My grandfather was John Close, the son of James Watson Close II and Sarah Lawlor, James watson CloseII, was the son  of James Watson Close and Susannah Hedley...James Watson Close was the son of John Close and Elizabeth Davis of Magheragall then Belfast  ...I too have many Close Rellies, in Belfast, Australia, England and here in Canada where I live....would love to compare notes with you.

My John McGrogan wed Margaret Monaghan of Lancaster Street.
There children were Barny, Kathleen (Kitty), Molly died 2003 Liverpool and another son I think.

I know there were more McGrogan links as I have a Margaret McGrogan marrying 1850 to Charles McGregor. 

I have lots of other McGrogan information but finding it hard to find who Johns parents were.

Hi,

I see you have the families of Close, Gardner, smyth and Morrison.

All these names I seek.

They are all linked to me by McGrogans, Monaghans, McIlvennys and other names.  All from Belfast and Co ANtrim areas and maybe Co Derry.

I think the above had other children including twins.
John b.1867 and possible Henry and Neal.

I have a Margaret Smyth whose father was Adam Smyth from Co Antrim.
Margaret married in Belfast to Robert Monaghan.

Any information would be great.
