Sue  don't you  mean  he married his favourite sister in law ;)

I  found  this not uncommon practise  I  have ggg uncle  upon dying his wife married his sister in law  he  was 68 and she was 21,  a big age difference and you wonder how  but  the wifes parents had married at 17 and had some t22 children over a 40 year time fram  the  youngest being born  when the wife was 51 you just imagine how it was.(tiring I would hazzard ;))  But no more  children with the new wife though.

I  was  checking  the deaths and  they all refer to  the  mother as Matilda

Can't find a birth for a Walter to Robert and Matilda......  :-\

Did find this though....don't know where he fits but the Nunawading caught my eye.....

There was an Inquest for a Robert BENNETT Nunawading 1879 because a dray ran over him.

Hi Jenn!  :D

Hi Jenn,
Sue  don't you  mean  he married his favourite sister in law

Not sure which of my remarks you mean :D

Robert Woolacott married whom
I think neice is closer to the mark :(
Robert Bennett was Mary Jane [first wife] brother.
Lily was his child.
So Robert was the brother in law to Robert Woolacott and his child seems to me more neice than SIL to Woolacott.
If it was RObert's wife I would say SIL.

Guess what Robert and Matilda's first child was named?

Mary Jane BENNETT born in RICH in 1871
Ref = 11527

That's nice.  Robert's favourite sister perhaps

Robert's sister was Mary Jane Bennett

Well, what a big day for me.

So much exciting information, thanks to all.

Big filing day ahead.
