I came across this website
http://www.tobarandualchais.co.uk/en/ subtitled 'Kist o' riches' and found it fascinating. It is free to access and is a joint venture by the University of Edinburgh, BBC Scotland and the National Trust for Scotland. There are over 34,000 oral recordings (stories, recollections and songs) made since the 1930's up until the 1970's, and a lot of them are of traveller people. It is searchable by surname if you are looking for a particular traveller family name (I'm interested in Townsley).
Have a browse and I hope you find something interesting on it, I did.
