Sorry Joe, the disks are for later dates than what you are interested in, so I can't help. They are the 1813-1841 Hampshire Baptism Index and Marriages Index and are available from the reg. charity Hampshire Genealogical Society www.hgs-online.org.uk. The license agreement does not allow them to be copied.

I don't know if there are disks covering those earlier records in Northington and Swarraton. As I said, I believe that some earlier parish records are missing or deemed too illegible to transcribe.

Hi Scriv,
Many thanks for replying.  I also have those HGS CDs, I thought by some chance yours might have been different ones.
Maybe I should become an OPC transcriber and ask to do Northington, I probably will when I have time on my hands after retirement.  3 years yet though.

Yes, that earlier gap in those records is so very frustrating ....as is peering down at a microfiche yourself which is so faint that it almost looks blank.

I have had another look at my notebook where I jotted down all events concerning my family names.

You might be interested to know that an Alf Lovell was a witness at the  marriage of Anna Maria Hammond to Thomas Tee on 29 May 1787.

There is a later family Tee in the 1841 census in Northington..a Thomas born abt 1801 and his family and William born abt 1791.

Hi Barbara,
Thanks for the info, its reassuring to know there were definitely some other Lovells there, even though I don't have an Alf or Alfred.

Kind regards
Arthur

Joe,

Are the Lovell families that I see in Kingsworthy/Headbourne Worthy areas of interest to you?

And William Lovell born abt 1815 Swaneton (Swarraton?) resident  in Walcot,Somerset in 1881?

Hi Barbara,
Would definitely be interested in the William from Swarraton.

I think I am going to do a one-name-study of the Lovells of Hampshire when I retire. (another 3 years yet!!), so would appreciate anything you may have on Lovells.

Hi Barbara,
I have just been onto Ancestry and got the census returns for William & Tamar 1851 to 1881, who appear childless.
They are mine as Mary A & Jane Goddard who I have in my tree were staying with them as his neices.

Thank you for the info.
Regards
Joe
