It looks like we all assumed that Peter settled in Montreal when in fact he travelled across the country to Vancouver, British Columbia.

There are two possible death entries in the British Columbia death index. One possible death was for Phillip Peter J Lloyd who died 6 Feb 1948 in Vancouver at the age of 57 which would make him the same age as your Peter.

The other death was for Peter Lloyd who died 11 Nov 1973 in New Westminster, British Columbia at the age of 87 which make him about 5 years older than your Peter.

If a look-up is done on your behalf of the BC Archives microfilm, the death registrations should give enough information to determine whether one of those is your Peter.

I couldn't find Peter Lloyd on the 1911 census in Canada.

Thanks Jacqui, I found those too.  I have just been through all the resource links and cannot find a single detail of my Peter Lloyd, unless for some reason he added the 'Phillip' (which with my family history of name changes would not surprise me ::)).

I am trying to find details of marraige too, as the letter states he has a lovely new wife in 1915 ??? but no record of that available either.

Would I be better to start a new thread, with Peter Lloyd Vancouver 1910? or is that not correct protocol?

This is really starting to drive me bonkers now - the man must be somewhere surely?

If I am not imposing on your kindness too much, could you give me an idea on how to move forward as the brick wall is definatly closing in now :'(

Many Many Thanks for your help so far.

Hello again,

RootsChat is extremely slow at the moment so I hope this reply will go through.

BTW, the dog in your avatar is beautiful!

In case you didn't know, you can search the 1911 Census for Canada for free at the following link...

http://automatedgenealogy.com/

The 'split view' original images are not working at the moment for some reason (the images give you more info than you get from the transcripts) but you can view transcripts. There is a Peter Lloyd in Ontario and 1 in Manitoba.

The address on the letter is in Vancouver, British Columbia. There is an index to vital events in BC.....try googling 'Vital Event Indexes BC Archives'. I can't manage to make a link at the moment. If you find any related records, there is a kind rootschatter :)  who will probably offer to look them up for you.

Hope this post works.

Edit: some of this was just covered by Jacqui but I will post anyway.

Regards,
Polarbear

You should be able to go back to your first post of this thread and modify the title so you don't have to start a new thread.

There are some RootsChatters who do have access to the BC Archives microfilm and might be able to do a look-up for you. If not, you could request a look-up at the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness website:

Thanks PolarBear.  The dog in the avatar is my Greyhound 'Dave' ;D

I looked up both Peter's in the link you gave me, neither are the right birthdate, just to confuse me further. :(  Not sure what exactly I am googling, but will try it as you said.

Thanks Jacquie, wil have a go at editing - anything could happen now ;D, I dont really want to ask for any look up requests yet till I have the right person, dont want to waste anyone's time.

Off to try edit then continue the search :-\

Hi again :),

The link Carol has given you was the one I couldn't seem to get to work for me yesterday. Jacquie would have found the death information that she posted earlier on the same website .

Too bad the Peters in the census don't appear to be yours. Were you able to see the original images? Can you tell us when your Peter was born? Was he single when he came to Canada?

Hi Lynda,

Your amended title caught my eye as I live in Vancouver.  The BC BMD registration lookups are very quick, literally 5 mins.  So if you think the Lloyd options that Jacquie found are possibilities, I can look them up for you.  I am planning to stop at the library tomorrow to do a few lookups so I can easily add yours to the list.
