Peter Lloyd Vancouver 1910?
« on: Tuesday 17 February 09 19:19 GMT (UK) »
wow, I didnt know this bit was here. ;D

I have done a few searches trying to find this relative.  Only just been given family information, and found a letter from Canada from this guy.

All we know from that is he had a 'sweet' wife he had courted for 3 years who was 16 at the time of the letter, so it seems far younger than he.

I found a Peter Lloyd on a shipping list for 1923 (LIverpool to Montreal) - he was born in 1892, so that would of course have made him 31.  I have checked the links I found on here for marraige and deaths and cant find any further information.  It is not known he returned to the UK, so assuming he did not.

Be most grateful if anyone could find out anymore, or tell me were I can look.

Many Thanks

Lynda

Sorry, cant edit post.

Just found out from someone checking out said letter, the date of the letter was 1915 :-[  so it seems it cant have been the same Peter Lloyd on the shipping list I found :'(

So, he must have left our Liverpool before 1915 - sorry.

What were Peter's parents names and where in England was he born? That might help find him or perhaps a marriage.

I assume his wife's name wasn't given in the letter.

Plenty of people visited home again after emigrating. There was a lot of ship passage between Canada and the UK, so it could still be him.

Here's a Montreal city directory you can try...it's the Série Principale you want, after that it's in English. I tried a few pages starting in 1916-17 but I think the server may be down at the moment.

Cheers,

Hi Jacqui
Peter's parents were Janet/Katherine Daley (goes by both names) and Peter Lloyd.  He was born in Lancashire.

Thanks China, I never thought of that I suppose it is possible he did return to the UK at some point.  Were do I find Serie Principale then?  We do think now he must have gone to Canada before January 1915, he was replying to a letter from his father before that so 1914 or before?

Thank you for help so far, this really is getting personal now ;)

High Bluehound,

Here is a link to the Montreal directories....

http://bibnum2.bnquebec.ca/bna/lovell/index.html

Hope it works. As Chinakay mentioned, it is in English after you click Serie Principale.

Thanks for link, didnt get any joy then - might try again though.  I know 'think' from extensive searching, Peter Lloyd travelled to Canada in 1910 I have found a P Lloyd on the shipping list, and eventually remembered he was not on the 1911 census here in the UK, so hopefully that add's up.

Anyway, wondered if anyone could give any further help from this, its the back of the envelope of the letter he wrote to home in 1915
