England's Trade Directories are online and free to search at the University of Leicester's web site.

You need to know where your chaps were in business to simplify the search.

Hi

This site described is a very good site for finding ancestors or even locating streets where they lived.

Dont forget that when directories were published, they were slightly out of date by the time of publication. I think if an 1892 directory was published in January 1892, the info may have been collected in say June or July 1891 ready for an 1892 publication.
