Ernest Henry WARREN - Where is he?

Hello All

My Uncle, Ernest Henry WARREN, was born September 1907 in Sussex, England.

My Grandfather died in 1916, in England, leaving my Grandmother with ten children, eight of whom were dependant.  Grandmother subsequently gave up two boys to the National Childrens Home.  Both boys, one of whom was Ernest Henry, were subsequently sent to Canada.

My Grandmother married again(in London), to an Australian, and came to Australia about 1919 with her new husband and five children. 

In Canada, in 1926, Ernest Henry indicated to the National Children's Home authorities that he wished to come to Australia to be reunited with his Mother and sisters.  According to Ernest's sister, Dorothy, he did make it to Australia.  His contact with his family, however, was apparently brief.  Ernest (or Ernie as he was known) then disappeared and as far as I am aware, made no further family contact.

My rather obvious question is; Did he remain in Australia? If he did, what happened to him?

Can anyone help ......... please?

Also the names of  Ernest Henry WARREN's parents could help in searching for a death in Australia.

Yes, Grandma lived in New South Wales.

Ernie's parents were:  Ernest Henry WARREN and Amy Eliza DUFFIN  (subsequently Amy Eliza CAMPBELL, formerly WARREN, nee DUFFIN)

Thank you very much.

Certainly a possibility, although the mother's name is a bit off the mark.

Having said that, it appears young Ernie was none too impressed with his Mum.  Firstly for "getting rid of him" to the NCH, and, secondly for disappearing to Australia without telling him (he wasn't sent to Canada until 1923). 

Also, perhaps the person who notified the death may have been unsure of her name (assuming this was "my" Ernie).

Just found Ernest's departure for Canada on board the Regina.....but guess you already have that, Wombat.

Finding his arrival from Canada might not be so easy.

Yes, we have him very well documented from birth up until 1926 in Canada.  After that, apart from Aunty Dot's recollection of him turning up in Australia, nothing.

I checked the NSW Electoral Rolls for 1930 and 1936.

In the 1930 Electoral Roll there’s an Ernest Henry Warren, breadcarter, living at 63 Crystal St, Petersham NSW. At the same address is an Ellen Ramond Warren, Home Duties.

In 1936 there’s an Ernest Henry Warren, labourer at 635 Pacific Highway, Chatswood.

In 1930 there’s also Ernest Henry Warren, postman at 34 Henderson Rd, Alexandria. At that address is an Essie Grace Warren, Home Duties. This couple are at 283 Belmont St, Alexandria in 1936.

At 10 Dibbs St. Alexandria in 1936 there’s also an Ernest Henry Warren, moulder, and a Dora Elise Warren, Home Duties.

Whether one of these might be your Ernest Henry needs more information ….so maybe we could check for marriages of these couples.

Would you believe.....I found marriages for all those Ernest Henry Warrens in NSW, and they were all married after 1926......I'd hoped to eliminate one or two of them.......
