Hi Deb,
Thank you once again, no I did not have that information, I have not been down the track of tracing the Luckes line. I had a small tree sent to me a short while ago, that gave me Ann's family line, such as parents and siblings, so I had been content with them till now.
I had a private email yesterday sent to me. This is what it said, I have no idea if it is correct or not. There was no email address attached to it. So I could not send a reply of thanks.
Margaret,
My name is Mary Davis, I have no connection to your family line what so ever. But thought I would send this to you as it was sent to me. I think this is your family line.
John Davis who had married Ann Burridge Luckes, who was born in Dawlish, Devon Abt 1810. John was actually born 6 Nov 1812, Baptised 1 Dec 1812 at St Gregory, Dawlish.
He was son of William Davis + Mary Ann Mudge married 25 Dec 1809 St Gregory's, Dawlish. They had William Mudge Davis 1810, Ann Mudge Davis 1811, John Davis 1812, Henry Stockham Davis 1814, Edwin Davis 1815, Charlotte Davis 1818, George Davis 1821, Charles William Davis 1823, Helen Mary Davis 1830, + Emma Sophia Davis 1833 all Baptised St Gregory's Dawlish.
William Davis was baptised in 1785 at Mamhead, he was the eldest son of John Davis who married Susanna Braddon 26 Dec 1784 at Mamhead. This John Davis died in 1811 at Dawlish, leaving a will total of 450 pounds. John Davis was a Builder, his wife although listed as Braddon, her Baptism has her listed as Susannah Bradden 12 July 1761 at Mamhead, her parents William Braddon and Sussanna Bussell.
I can tell you no more information about the Davis family line,
as that is all I was sent and they did not tell me their name or why they sent it to me. I suppose it had something to do with the fact, that I had been making enquires about the places of Dawlish and Mamhead for my son's school project, and I had said my husband was John Davis and my name being Mary, they thought I was related to the above family.
I do hope this helps you find your complete family.
Regards Mary Davis
Well Deb, if Mary is viewing these pages I thank her for her thoughtfulness in sending this. If it does turn out to be my family I will be very greatful indeed.
