Auchentroig is a mile from Buchlyvie in Drymen area - Stirlingshire.

I see you are a Morrison! Is that your OH's name? We may be related on that front too - my great gran was a Morrison from Buchlyvie. Maybe better continue this by pm - we have strayed from the point just a bit!

Memory did serve, we are indeed cousins!  I can share what I know of Alexander Sands and Margaret Harvie's descendants later, meanwhile please see below for what I know of his ancestry.

1. Alexander Sands,
born 24 August 1837, Kincardine Parish, Perthshire;
died March 1895;
buried Norrieston Kirkyard, Kincardine Parish.
(NOTE: He married (6 August 1858, Kippen, Stirlingshire) Margaret Harvie (born 1 February 1838, Glasgow, Lanarkshire; died 14 May 1905/06), daughter of John Harvie and his wife Elizabeth Neilson.  Alexander and Margaret had eight children, four sons and four daughters.)
