I noticed your request for information on an Edward Tatton of Staffordshire and you also mentioned that  your Tatton ancestors came from Sheldon near Birmingham.   I cannot help you with that particular Edward Tatton but my Tatton family were from Catherine de Barnes and Sheldon.
I  started my Tatton family tree some 20 years ago and managed to trace the family in that area  back to 1640 to a key Tatton who was I believe was the first in the Sheldon area.  I was then able to trace him back to the area of his birth in Didsbury Cheshire.  Things get a bit difficult there in the records but he was the son of one of the Tattons of Wythenshaw.    I have not given you his name as I would like to know if you have independently gone down the same path.

I have an Edward Tatton in my family tree who was baptised at Sheldon St Giles on 25th July 1784 he married an Ann Bellamy in 1808.
I do have later Tatton relatives in the area. I am sure our families are related so I woul be interested to hear from you.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. Edward Tatton (25/7/1784) is my gggg grandfather. He was married to ann Bellamy. I can go back to the 1640's with Christipher Tatton christened in Sheldon 30 oct 1642. (possibly son of another Christipher and Abigal although he may have married twice.
This family were agricultural labourers and similar. This may not fit in with Cheshire who I thought were a higher class!
Although my part of the family "emigrated" to Edinburgh my grandfather Edward came back south and set up a pottery works in Burslem. Ironically I now only live a few miles from Sheldon. I am also a Tatton.
If my information ties in with yours then it would be good to share it.

HI

Yes you have followed the same line of decent to Christopher Tatton who migrated to the Warwickshire area sometime between  1633 and 1640 I can give you information on that.   He was born in the same town as myself  Didsbury  Manchester.   I have a baptism for him in 1609 in the Tatton church at Northenden in 1609.  The IGI for some reason has him as baptized in Didsbury St James around 1610 very strange.  He later appears in the Didsbury Church register as father of a child Mary mother Elizabeth Davy but no evidence of a marriage. The child died 1 month later.
The most likely parents for Christopher are a Nicholas Tatton & Dorothy Linney who seemed to be the only Tattons using Didsbury St James for baptisms at that time.  If that is correct then he would be the grandchild of Robert Tatton & Dorothy Booth   From there the Tattons go back directly to another Robert Tatton in 1290.

Returning to Edward Tatton & Ann Bellamy we do share the same 4th Great Grandparents.   From them my line goes to Henry Tatton & Mary Mills  then to Henry Tatton & Emily Blizzard  to John Henry Tatton & Laura Williams and then to John Tatton my grandfather.   My mother was the Tatton so I do not have that surname.
I do not know how to get in contact, I do have a login for Genes Reunited but I have never published my tree and have not paid a subscription.

I have looked for you there but there are several Richard Tattons with the same date.

Thanks for that  I have not looked at your tree yet as I am unable to without paying a subscription.  I don't know if there is any alternative way of us communicating.    I have some information you would find interesting in that I have a court record entry for Christopher Tatton which I discovered many years ago when I visited  Warwickshire County Record Office.
