Edward Tatton
« on: Sunday 15 February 09 22:47 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find information about my grandfather (Edward Tatton) or his pottery works. He manufactured earthenware in the 1930's to 1950's as E. Tatton at Fountain Place, Burslem.
All I can find are entries in the old phone books for the Potteries.
Thanks Grogan

Hello Grogan, My ancestor, David Tatton and wife Hannah (Cooper) Tatton are on the 1851 census for Birmingham.  David was born in Dudley, Staffordshire.  He was a brush maker and she was a glass cutter.  He was born about 1811.  He died May 1880 and is buried at Witton Cemetery. I have no information on his birth, parents or siblings.

Do you have any information in your records that might suggest a kinship of Edward Tatton to David?

BTW, Grogan is also a surname in my family history via County Louth, Ireland.  I'm very new to this website and it is rather intimidating right now. Thanks.   Irishforu

Hi Irishforu
I will check further but it looks like all my Tattons came from Sheldon or around there which is the Warwickshire edge of Birmingham. However the glassmakers did move towards Stourbridge. If I come across any links I will let you know. Regards Grogan
