I am doing research on my family the Leonards, formally Lenaghans in Donegal.  I came across this post and reconized this name.  There was a Christopher Monaghan renting land from Anne Lenahan in Dromore in 1857 according to the Griffiths Valuation. Check out the link.  Hope it helps.

See here.

Hi Natasha,

My grandmother Bridget had a brother called James born in Frosses, Inver Parish, my grandfather was always talking about his O'Donnell cousins, I wonder if the connection to the O'Donnells is James marrying Mary Rose, hope to hear from you soon, finding it very hard to get imformation on my Monaghan Family,

Kind regards Jane ???

I have an Edward Leonard and his wife Catherine Hanley who came over to Scotland about 1848 - 50. They were from Co Donegal but as yet have no idea which area. On Edward's Scottish death certificate from 1873 he was aged 63 and his parents were given as James Leonard, flour miller and Agnes Kelly or Kirby. I presume that James and Agnes died in Ireland.
Edward and Catherine had 5 children that I know of. James born about 1828, Peter/Patrick born about 1830, Agnes born about 1835, Margaret born about 1840 (all born Ireland) and Jane born 1851 Glasgow, Scotland.
Agnes went to "America" as a young woman, don't know if she stayed there or came back. The others all died in Scotland.
