My GGGGrandfather was a stonemason in 1850s in Inver Parish, Mountcharles, I wonder if he was employed by annother Monaghan family who owned a quarry in the area or if they were related.  Does anybody know anything about stonemasonary and quarries in that area?

kind regards Jane

Hi Charles,
No I didn't put the rosasry beads on the grave, my greatgrandmother had a brother named James and O'Donnell was the name of my grandfathers cousins who he used to visit in the area in the 1940s and 50s I have being trying to establish who he visited. Yesterday would you believe we put a wooden cross on the grave of my GGGrandparents who are buried in Mothwerwell, Scotland, We only discovered they were buried there when I started researching my family history they were named Christopher and Maria Monaghan from Frossses Inver Parish, Donegal, please get back in touch, and you are going to Frosses for 3 months how lucky you are its a lovely place.

Kind regards Jane  :)

Regarding the rosarybeads I have been thinking my cousin Hugh might have put the rosary beads on the grave as  he was in Frosses in July  last year. I am intouch with Helen Meehan (writer) from Frosses.

Do you know the names of your Greatgrandfather James's parents?  I would be interested in anything you find and also willing to help you in anyway, I know that my 3xGrandfather namely Christopher Monaghan was a stonemason and that Margaret Monaghan donated the stone for the newly built church of The Holy Family in Ardara.  Helen Meehan is sending me an article about Drumbeg also known as Cloverhill that is where my grandmothers youngest brother was born.

James Monaghan was the youngest of my Greatgrandmothers brothers  born in Cloverhill now known as Drumbeg in 1880 his Godparents were Charles Blaney and Mary Higginbottom. My greatgrandmother oftern recalled to my Dad growing up in Frosses, she was married in May 1896 in St Marys RC Church Frosses. Here is a picture of ? O'Donnell cousin to my grandfather. I just know he used to stay with his O'Donnell cousins in the 4os and 1950s, does any of this ring a bell? I had this old black and white photo coloured and restored
