Lost grandparent's siblings in 1891 census
« on: Sunday 15 February 09 04:18 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to locate my grandmother's siblings, five of them; all in the 1901 and 1911 census
but none to be found in the 1891 Census - then all aged between 4 & 9 years. Born between
1882 and 1887.
Can anyone suggest an answer?

If you provide names, dates of birth roughly and parents names + area they were born someone is sure to help you. Probably surname is just mis-transcribed on 1891 Census.

Cheers,
Trish

Thanks for the suggestion,
The Family name is Stevens. Parents were Walter Bifield and Rose Anna
Hubert William Byfield b. 1882  in Peckham
Dorothy Katherine       b. 1883 in Peckham
Gladys Hilda                b.  1885 in Peckham
Muriel Ethel                 b.   1886 in Kingston (My grandmother)
Mabel Louise Annie      b.  1887  in Wimbledon.

My Grandmother used to tell me the family grew up in Wimbledon, but I havn't been able
to verify that - or locate an address.
By 1901(Census) they are all living with their Father in Walworth, borough of Southwar

I should be able to locate them in the 1891 census, but no luck so far.
Any help would be warmly appreciated.  J.S

Staying with a relative on census night ?

My grandmother went missing from the 1881 census, and I eventually found her, lodging with 3 of her sisters, next door to her uncle & aunt.  Presumably they didn't have room to put them up, so they stayed with a neighbour.  That's why I feel it's important to do a little "sideways research", because it helps you find things like that  :)

RIP 1949-10th January 2013

Best Wishes,  Nick.

Hi there

Can't quite work out if it is just the children you have lost in 1891 or the parents as well?

I've found a curious family in Streatham:

RG12 Piece 456 Folio 142 page 46.

What was the father's occupation in 1911 and where/when was he born?

Regards

Hi there, me again.

Just found Walter B in 1861, (RG9/780/108/8). Looks like the William in 1881 was the grandfather, with a second wife.

Hi Kirstie,

I have been trying to find them also.

Well done if you have found it Kirstie ;D ;D

Have to go to bed and have just signed out of Ancestry, but from memory, 1901 Walter.B. Stevens and most of the children work in the printing trade and Walter is a widower aged 44.

Even trying to find a death of Rose Anna Stevens between 1887-1891 was hard :(
No Rose Anna's fit and they only one I think is possible is;

Rose Annie Stevens in Hampshire 1888 ::) aged 27.

Trish    ( 3.00 am here ::))

Will check out what you found tomorrow ;)
