Hi Gobbo, Valda and Louisa,

I have now received a new certificate and it does seem that Annie's father was probably the Richard who was a servant.  The certificate reads as follows:-

Annie SMITH age 22 spinster No 1 Norwood Place, Kensington, father Richard Smith, brewer's servant.  Witnesses were:  James Smith and Jane Wigg.

Regards, Rose

Hi Rose

So it looks like it is Ann Sarah Smith.  In 1851 she was living with her family at 87 York Street, Westminster St Margaret (HO 107 1480 414 p10):

Richard Smith, Head, Marr, 50, Servant Gen, b. Middlesex, Westm
Elizabeth Do, Wife, Marr, 49, Laundress, b. Suffolk, Thurlow
Ann Sarah Do, Daur, U, 15, Scholar, b. Middlesex, Westm
Elizabeth Do, Daur, 12, Scholar, b. Do, Do

Ann Sarah was therefor born 1835-6.

George Noyce was probably honest about his age.  Freebmd has him indexed as NOYC_ George, birth registered in Kensington, Apr-Jun 1845.  The reference is very difficult to read in the original index, my guess is Kensington 3 ?27.

Freebmd has the death registration for Ann Noyce 36 in Jan-Mar 1885 Fulham 1a 181: I guess this is the Fulham death that Valda found.

All the best

Hi Gobbo,

Thank you and the others for the time in helping me sort this one out.  You are right about George's birth reference.  I wonder if George ever knew Annie's real age!!  I doubt there is much to learn from the death certificate though.

Hi Louisa,  Certainly looks like it.

Regards, Rose
