I found a Census Search Extract from the 1851 census for John Power of Bayview Cottage, Priest road, Tramore. His Parents were John Power and Kate Lyons. His siblings were Mary, Maurice, Bridget and Margaret. John doesn't show up so he may not have been born before 1851.

Hi

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you.  This sounds really exciting (for me!)

Please can you give me a bit more information about the 1851 extract? - Is it just for the Tramore area?  Where could I locate it?

Please could I also clarify some of the details of your posting? - I note you record that John and Kate were  the parents and Mary, Maurice, Bridget and Margret were the children on the 1891 census - but please can you confirm the link to their son John? - was he on a later census extract or other linking document (if he was not onthe 1851 census)?

Sorry for all the questions.

Kind regards

It's on the IGP site, It seems to be down, but here's the reference:

PRIEST'S RD.
  9   POWER        Michael          23
                   Andrew           17     brother
                   Mary             16     sister
                   Johanna          50     widow, mother      m. 1823

I'll need to think about how I worked out the rest. How are you connected? Are you from Tramore?

Regards,
                Ivan.

Ivan

Many thanks.  I have got the details of Johanna Power (widow) and her family from Priests Road from the 1851 extract.  These Powers are no relation.

If I was reading things correctly you were possibly suggesting other Power's in the Priests Road in 1851 too? - these may be my relations.

My Grandfather (John Power) was born in Bay View Cottage, Priests Road Tramore and lived his childhood there. His father (John Power) also lived his married life there with his wife Anne - he was born about 1850.  His father was also called John Power - I do not know the name of his mother.  There was a John Power living very close to where Bay View Cottage is now at the time of the  Griffiths valuation so this might be him?

Kind regards

Sorry I'm getting my wires crossed. The Census Search Extract for John is in The National Archives on Microfilm. I didn't photocopy it. I'll root in my notes for more detail.

The census search forms or Green Forms were completed by the Public Records Office from information supplied by applicants for the Old Age Pension (which was introduced in 1908) seeking evidence of their age. A person had to be 70 years of age for the pension. They are for the whole country, but there's not that many of them.

The Search Extract 1851, lists the address as Bay View Cottage, Priest's Road. Occupants; John power and Kate Power nee Lyons, Children; Mary, Maurice, Bridget and Margaret. There was no John. I presumed that your great grandfather hadn't been born yet. I don't have any later connections. I will look in my notes tomorrow and see if I can find their ages.
Sorry for the confusion.
Ivan.

Wow! This looks a real possibility.

Any further info regarding siblings ages/dates or any occupations might enable me to fix things.

Thank you so much!

Kind regards

Richard
