I also have just found a Moses Paul in my family tree.  He is listed as being born c 1805 and in 1836 he married Elizabeth Hyndman. There appear to have been 10 children. One of whom Hannah Paul was my great Grandmother. The Moses Paul in question died on 07.07. 1885 in Lisbreen N Ireland.

To Gene Digger,
I have some records that were given to me by my late mother Joyce McBride ( maiden name ). These list the children of Moses Paul and Elizabeth Hyndman as....

Elizabeth Paul b 01.03.1838:  John Hindman Paul b. 23.12.1840:  Mary Bradshaw Paul b 12 May 1844: Jane Paul b 20.08.1847:
Margaret Hyndman Paul b 21 05 1848:  Hannah Paul b abt 1850: Rachel Paul b abt 1852: Nancy Paul b abt 1854: Matilda Paul b abt 1856: Sarah Paul b 1859:

Hannah Paul was the second wife of James McBride who lived at Coreen, Broughshane Co Antrim. One of their offspring was Thomas Hyndman McBride who is my grandfather.

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

There are numerous postings to be found on the internet that give Sarah as born "County Enlhuir, Ireland" which is possibly a misreading of County Antrim- certainly there seems to be no such townland with that name in Ireland and it's not the name of a county. (I suspect some of the postings may be from the same person or have been copied from each other).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Yes, there is a lot of misinformation out there. The Paul family noted on the tombstone from Lanark County, Ontario, Canada originated in the Townlands of Elginny, Lisbreen, Lisbreen Half Quarter, Legnagooley in the Ballymena district near Broughshane. Parishes of Glenravil and Skerry. Two brothers emigrated to Canada in 1847 and 1852. Moses Paul/Sarah McAuley and John I. Paul/Sarah Blair, respectively. Their aged father Moses Paul also came with them in 1852 but died shortly thereafter.
This Paul family IS related to the US descendants of William Paul/Elizabeth Hyndman and the Moses Paul/Nancy McCosh descendants still in N. Ireland.

Update:

I now believe that the "Canadian" Pauls from Elginny townland (Moses and his brother John I.) had a father named JOHN Paul, not Moses. This John Paul would have been born circa 1777 in N. I. and died circa 1852 in Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
John Paul (1777-1852) had, at least, 3 brothers- William, Moses and Archibald and possibly a 4th brother named James. William was married to Elizabeth Agnew; Archibald to Jane ___ and James possibly married to Margaret ___. These brothers lived in Lisbreen Half Quarter, Knockanully, Legnagooley and Rathkenny townlands near Broughshane and Ballymena.
The Pauls were tenants on lands owned by Stephen Moore, Viscount Mountcashel. His wife Alicia Colville, inherited the lands from her Great Grandfather Dr. Colville. Colville leased (or purchased) these lands from Rose, Lady Marchioness of Antrim, wife of Randal MacDonnell, 1st Marquis of Antrim.

Hello Another Paul:

In the Whites' Cemetery register and map is a grave marked "Moses Paul's Father". I have some proof that he was JOHN Paul, not Moses.
Can you send me a private email on this site and we can discuss/compare.
Thanks.
