In relation to Esther Weston.

LDS has an ancestral file for Esther.

Advising the following:
Birth - abt 1765 in Newbury, Berkshire, England
Marriage to John Moulding: 2 Jul 1779 Newbury, Berkshire, England
Death - 12 May 1821/1824
All the kids are mentioned also.

Hope this helps.
I live in Melbourne Australia and I am researching:
Holloway - Radnorshire, Herefordshire, Shropshire
Davey - county sligo emigrating to Australia

Hi again,
As the Mormon Church quite rightly says about Ancestral Files,
"The information has not been verified against any official records.  Since the information in Ancestral File is contributed, it is the responsibility of those who use the file to verify its accuracy."

You might be able to make contact with the submitter of this file to find where he got his info, but the bottom line is that it has to be checked with original records if you want to be absolutely sure.

Yours
Vicwinann

Thanks for that, I've seen the IGI info and really need to get off my backside and go to the RO as I only live 1/2 an hour away by car! Work is such an annoying obstacle to research!

Just thought I'd pop this reply in to clear up any confusion and to assist with our research into the Moulding surname.

Esther/Hester Weston/Wesson is my 4xGt.Grandmother Baptised St.Nicolas Newbury 25/Dec/1758, this ties in with her age on the burial entry as 66yrs 12/May/1824, and also ties in with her stating that she is 56 yrs on 27/May/1815 in Joseph Toomers Census(1yr older than John Moulding her husband). She was the daughter of Benjamin Weston and Hannah(ann) Rodgers a widow on their PR marriage entry on the 11/Nov/1755 at St.Nicolas, Newbury, .........possibly been previously married to Richard Rogers on 20/Oct/1753 Chieveley, Berks as Ann Baal.

John Moulden was baptised 23/Jan/1761 St.Nicolas, Newbury son of William and Mary, this would make him 54 on the day that Joseph Toomer carried out his census but his age is actually recorded as 55yrs...probably to make him look closer to his wifes age...?????.

William Moulding married Mary Shaw at St.Nicolas, Newbury on 08/Nov/1757, and it states on the PR marriage entry that he was a sojourner in this parish, and that she was OTP.

Taking into consideration that Barley was an important trading product at this time in Newbury coupled with the fact that the River Kennet was made more navigable between Newbury and Reading and hence London by the early 1720's, then we can only speculate that our William Moulding was probably a barley trader from either Bradfield or East Lockinge, the later being renowned for especially good barley.

I've had some time at WBRO to research the Wm Molden bapt.09/Mar/1734 son of Francis Molden and Sarah Cooper, but as William and Mary don't name any of their sons Francis it just doesn't seem right, but William and Mary did have 3 sons named William bapt. 01/June/1758, 13/July/1759 and 1774 either after himself or after his father if he is the Wm. Moulden from East Lockinge bapt.14/Jan/1732.

If anyone gets a chance could they please follow up on this William to see if he married and settled in East Lockinge, or if he was burried there.

Happy hunting,
Andy

Hi Andy,

Thanks for leaving your post, it is great to hear that most of what I have is correct and to correct the errors. Researching from overseas is not ideal, but the hunting is so addicitive I keep digging!

Many thanks

Cheers

Hello everyone,

I know this is an old thread but yesterday I came across a baptism in the parish records for St Nicolas Church Newbury 9/7/1813 for a George Leander Moulding parents George and Mary Moulding fathers occ: Private in the 15th Dragoons. Does anyone know if the father George is the same George Moulding born 1781, son of John and Esther Moulding (nee Weston) and if so, who he married?

Added:

Just found George Moulding aged 2 (born 1813) on the 1815 Toomers Census recorded as grandson living with grandparents John and Hester Moulding at the George and Dragon Northbrook Street Newbury so he was the child of their son George who married Mary ? now just trying to find Mary's maiden name and when and where they married

Kind regards,
Chris
