  I am looking for information or relatives of John Hinder the son of a brewer in Essex who went to N.S.W.Australia in the 1790s.John married Ann in N.S.W.and had 3 sons.John died in Ceylon c1819 and Ann and sons went to Calcutta.A grandson of John and Ann was named John Hinder, attended The Medical College of Bengal in the late 1850s and became a surgeon at Marys Hospital,Calcutta ,died 1880.2 children Adeline Mary Hinder marr. (Arthur Thoby Haversiegh Prinsep)(Charles Stanley Aylwin) and Terence  Hope Hinder a dentist in N.S.W.,Australia.John Hinder marr.Harriett Ann Morris in the 1850s?.

It's not likely that the Hinder's are an Essex family....more likely from Wiltshire if I had to make a guess. Below are some early Hinder marriages, most being from the west of England (Wiltshire/Gloucestershire) there are some early London marriages as well so it is possible that your John is related in some way to that lot. Essex borders London so it would not surprise me if this Brewery was in the east end of London but with a true address of Essex!
the tendency was to move into London in such times..not to move out! tracking them through the census's might prove fruitful to narrow down the field but you are going to land up in Parish records somewhere..."where" is the problem?

I am in Gosford area NSW Australia, a Hinder descendant through my mother Gwendoline May Hinder upwards to Herbert Hinder - Edward James Hinder - Edward Robert Hinder -John Hinder jnr - John Hinder snr (who married Ann Fogg)
I understand from a record of the Hinder family in Australia by Eleanor M Hinder OBE that Edward Robert was a nephew of Edward whose siblings were John Jnr and James Stratton.  Her history states that John Hinder snr left with his regiment for Calcutta where he died in 1819 of cholera
Came across your 14 year old post and wondered whether you had followed up any recommendations.
