Hello June,
I know very little.  I know of William F. Rea born 1782.  Family story says it was near Donegal Bay.  His first son's name was James (implying that William F. Rea's father's name was James).
So if I can find a William Rea born 1782 with a father James, then I will be excited.
Kevin

Hello Kevin,
So sorry but I thought your Reas were from Co Down the same as mine and unfortunately I don't have any info on Reas from the Donegal area. The only info that I had from Proni was a document D/654 which was the identifier of,  Papers of the Londonderry Estate Office. It appears that these can only be viewed in Person at the PRONI under supervised access and as that would be difficult for me it hasn't happened. I think though, that for you it would be a good place to start and if you are in Ireland even better as you will have a chance of visiting the record offices. If I come across any William or James Rea from  Donegal will let you know . Best Wishes and Happy Christmas to you . June

Hi Brufsup
I live in Dundonald and have done all my life.  My family go back 3 generations here.  The Reas where a well known family even up to reasonably recently.  My aunt hired a stable from Jessie Rea back in the 70's and she owned a small shop in the town.  If you want I will ask my mum her husbands name as I can't remember but my mum knew quite a few Reas.

I am actually wondering if they could have been related to my G Grandmother Agnes.  However I am having difficult tracking down any info on her so I can't be sure.

Hi,
That would be very kind of you, as I said above my x3 great grandfather was David Rea bc 1801 who was born in Dundonald he married Catherine McCormick who was from Comber. I know that David & Catherine moved to cumbria with some of their children but I suppose that there would have been family left behind, brothers, sisters ,etc, it would be interesting to find some Rea's that are connected. I think that when the family first came over to england they were pretty destitute and had a hard time when they first arrived , but maybe it was harder in Ireland at that time,  as lots of Irish people emigrated to different countries in that period.
Thank you once again for your offer of help iy is much appreciated. Regards June

I am really so excited to find this!! I am looking for the Rea's from Suffolk or Dunston....John Rea married to Agnes. I do not know Agnes' last name but they were born in the 1400's. John was the father of Robert Rea (1508-1551) who was married to Joan and I do no know Joan's last name. Robert is the father of John Rea (1528-1595) who was married to Elizabeth.

This might sound weird but I really get distraught when I can't find peoples' parents..... any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hello June,
I am a new to this excellent website so i hope i am doing the right thing here. But we seem to have some common ground n the Rea lineage.
I have been trying to find the parents of David Rae 1801 for quite some time now but without success. It would be interesting to find out if you have had more success than i  have had.
In my family tree, David Rae and Catherina McCormick had eight children.
They arrived in (Great Clifton) Workington, Cumberland in 1845.
David Rea (1831-1864) married an Esther Emerson (1828-1868), i am a descendant from that line. My uncle was Emerson Ray.
If i can fill in any gaps you may have in your family tree, i would be happy to help.

Regards John James.
