Sounds as though Prudence might have been an older sister of Henry Ayres bapt 1707 at Lode, but I have never encountered her before.
Further very recent research suggests a connection to Cromwell's Puritans and the Civil Wars of th 1640s and 50s. I have discovered a William Ayres who was a Captain in the Eastern Association of Cromwell's Army. He vanishes from the record around 1644, but a William Eyres also a Captain in the Eastern Association appears. As there was no standard spelling before c 1770 (Dr. Johnson) I have assumed it is the same man; but apart from his break with Cromwell and joining the Levellers I have no further information. Did he return to the Cambridge area? Is he the grandfather of Henry, and Prudence? To me Prudence does seem to be the type of name to be associated with the daughter 0f a Puritan Family. Probably had a sister Temperance! Can anyone help please?
