Muir, Last Living Recognized Clan Chief?
« on: Monday 09 February 09 16:16 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone
I've undertaken a task and beginng to wonder about my sanity :)

I am trying to find the name of, and more information, the last living, recognized by the Court of the Lord Lyon, chief of the clan Muir.
Names, birth location and date, death location and date, relatives, etc etc

So far I've read heresay that he died around 1700.

Anyone have information on this?
Suggestions on where to start this search?

I'm in the US and won't be heading to Scotland anytime over the next three years. Drats!

Kind regards,

See

Thanks all

What I need is the actual name of the last living chief. I'm trying to trace back the clan chiefs.

Lord Lyon requires a personal visit to get access to information, which I cannot do over the next five years. Any suggestions on how to get the information other than me being there in person?  :-\

Strangely this information does not appear in the public domain and many of the online sites which cite the "history" of the clan appear to republish the same claim which would appear to need some serious research from accredited historians.
