Murphy birth

Hi All
I wonder if anyone can help me find the parents & any siblings of my grt/grandfather Denis Murphy, on his naval records it has his date of birth as 12 November 1848  Tracton, Cork, from census records I think he was born in Ringabella Kinsale Cork.

I have Denis's baptism (12 Nov 1846) in my database of five  parishes south of Cork City, including Tracton Abbey.  He was the son of Denis Murphy and Mary Cooney.  There are also baptisms fpr four other children. I am afraid that I am not able to paste the entries into this message, and this website deletes my e-mail address if I include it.  Sorry, but I am not willing to copy out the entries by hand.

hi Frank ... your mention of your Cork parish database have got me thinking that it could include mention of ggg-grandmother Catherine Nevin who was born around 1838, her father was Andrew.

If you have a minute could you have a look for Catherine or other Nevin family members in South Cork.

All I know about her early life is from her marriage cert in 1854 in St. Michael's Chapel, Parish of Finn Barr (C of I), her address is given as simply Blackrock - so I am hoping she was also born in the area.

There are only 5 entries in my database for the name Nevin/Navin, with no child named Catherine.  I cannot copy them into this message, so you will have to figure out how to send me your e-mail address.
I am puzzled that your message is filed under an inquiry for the name Murphy.
