John Durham- Killamarsh c1817
« on: Sunday 08 February 09 11:33 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Can anyone help me find John's father he lists his birth place as Killamarsh around 1817. By 1851 he had moved to Brightside Sheffield but I'm unable to find his birth etc in IGI tables.

I can only guess his father was called Joseph but would like to confirm this if possible as a Joseph Durham and wife Elizabeth also magically appear in Brightside in 1851 they appear to have come from Eckington and both were born around 1785

Any help or advise would be gratefully received

                             Many Thanks
                                         Paul Durham

Hi Paul

I think I have him in the 1841 census aged 24 living in Sheffield, coal miner, not born in county with Hannah aged 20 and George aged 1 living at Elm Tree Hill.

Living a few doors away also at Elm Tree Hill is an Ann Durham aged 55 with a Joseph Durham, coal miner, aged 22 both not born in county.

Many Thanks Ben
John and Joseph both called Durham born within a couple of years does seem to be a little too much of a coinsidence doesn't it. Brothers or cousins is now the question.

            Hope I get more replies

                            Regards
                                    Paul

Hi Paul

A John Durham wed in the Dec Quarter of 1838 in Sheffield and on the same page is a Hannah Parkin. The cert will give the fathers name.

Hi
Thanks for the info on Ridgeway but when I tried to find John on the Ridgeway site and could not see him I have since received a Marriage certificate and his father was called Thomas and I was unable to find anything for him either.

Are their any similar sites for nearby Parishes you may be aware of that could possibly help with my search.

                                   Regards
                                              Paul
