Hi, I’m tracing my family tree and I’m looking for anyone who may be able to give me some advice on tracing Irish ancestors. Unfortunately both my father and my “maternal” grandfather came from Ireland which means that 3 “branches” of ancesters lead me to Ireland!!
I have gained a little information so far:-
My father, James Joseph WHELAN was born in Dublin. His parents were Patrick Joseph WHELAN (born 17 March 1902 at Marrowbone Lane, Dublin) and Jane Margaret COWLEY (born 15 February 1900).
Patrick’s parents were John WHELAN (born c 1865) and Elizabeth DUNNE (born c 1871) and he had 6 siblings; John, Elizabeth, Kate, James, Mary Christina and Julia).
Jane’s parents were James COWLEY (born c 1868) and Jane BERRY (born c 1868) and she had 7 siblings; Mary, James, Leo, Ellen, Thomas and Michael.
I would love to hear from anyone who recognises any of these names or who could give me some assistance/advice on tracing Irish ancestors - I have no idea where to go from here!
Cheers
Jax
