Hello Barbara,

I've just happened to find this thread by chance and whilst this won't be of any benefit to your research, I just thought I would sign up to this site to tell you that 188 Wigan road (WN4 9SX) was my childhood home (From 1990 to 2006).

The reason that I have been searching about the property online is because during my time at the house we endured paranormal activity, with some serious incidents that scared the hell out of us!  I have been trying to find out if anything untoward happened at the house during its existence - searching through local newspaper articles to see if anyone came to a sticky end there.

It was really exciting to see someone else was searching about the house for different reasons, whilst I know nothing about previous owners I could tell you more about the house as it was.  I would hope that my post does not offend you with its content but I felt I should post something after finding this thread!

Just to add, I've just spoken to my parents and they say that the deeds of the house have the entire list of owners.  These deeds should be with the current owner, who is letting out the property.  If you were to contact Lobster lettings, at their wigan branch.. they may be able to help you get in touch with the landlord who has the deeds.

Perhaps worth a try, that is if you've still to find out any more information since your last post.

Hello Ferg,  thanks for your message.

Don't worry, I'm not a bit offended by your comments about the house.

Since I put up my message, I have been able to find out quite a lot about Thomas, who was in fact my Gt Gt Uncle, he was my Gt Grandad's youngest brother.

The family he was lodging with at 188 Wigan Road in 1901 may well have been relatives of his, I've no way of knowing.
Apparently he then married in 1902 and lived at I Dig Nook Ashton, until his wife died in 1918.

He himself died in 1920 and his address at death was with the same family again, 188 Wigan Road again, - which leads me to think that they must have been either relatives or very close friends.

I would be very interested to hear any history concerning
your old home from the past, any information you may have of the old life of the house would be of interest to me so please let me know if you turn anything up.

Thanks again for your interest.

Barbara.
