If you look at the Land Registry:
www.landregistry.gov.ukand go to the "property search" tab at the top of the page, you should find details for:
188 Wigan Road
Ashton in Makerfield
WIGAN
WN4 9SX
You'll find that the Land Registry have three records for it - a freehold and two leaseholds. The freehold appears to be shared with several adjoining properties - 182 to 204 Wigan Road are all under the same freehold, suggesting a major landlord owns them all.
The aerial photograph on the 'map enquiry' section of Land Registry's website appears to show that 188 is part of the terrace of properties on the east side of Wigan Road between Roseberry Road and Prince Street. Judging by the aerial photograph, there are rear projecting wings to all the houses and two or three chimneys per house - it looks like a typical Victorian / Edwardian terrace - two receptions and a kitchen downstairs and three bedrooms upstairs.
Then looking at Wigan Borough Council's planning applications at
www.wigan.gov.uk , there doesn't appear to have been any planning applications since 2002 at 188 itself, although there is an application A/06/67831 for 204 Wigan Road, which appears to be part of the same terrace. Unfortunately when I try and look at the plans for that one their website crashes!
Then, if you go to
www.rightmove.co.uk and search for properties for sale in WN4 9SX (and set it to 'this postcode only'), there are two properties currently for sale which appear to be part of that terrace or one of the immediately adjoining ones, which look very similiar in the aerial photographs - unfortunately it doesn't tell you which numbers the houses are, but the photos give you a good idea of what these houses look like. It appears that one of the two currently for sale has converted one of its original three bedrooms into a luxury upstairs bathroom.
Hope that helps.
Richard.
