1712 Souch, Wm of Willersly, Glouc + Bryan, Mary of Oxford

Possibly the Souch family are from Glos......  Undecided  Huh

I believe Souch is a derivative of Zouch(e).  There are some in Chertsey, Surrey.

I have no idea about Gloucestershire though.

Re: Souch -- the (de la) Zouche family is an ancient one indeed but it is almost impossible to link up Souch and Zouches to this ancient gentry family, I believe.  Ashby de la Zouche in Leicestershire was linked to this family.

Re: Denton -- I am pretty sure there must be a link between my Thomas Denton, of St. Giles, Oxford and your Dentons.

I have no idea where my Thomas Denton originated...

Sue, can you check the Thomas Denton and Hannah Kitching marriage of 2 April 1821 at at St. Giles, Oxford on the OMI for me, please?  I am hoping it tells me if they were Of the Parish or not.

Thank you!

Regards,

James R. Yeowell.

My Davis family  are of Oxford.  I am still persuing them.

William Davis, a boat builder (according to his daughter's marriage certificate), married Fanny Petty in December Quarter, 1851, in Oxford.  Fanny Petty was of Abingdon (Sue has found them for me and they were of the Trinity Church, Abingdon).  Actually, Fanny Petty married aged 36 and is noted on two censuses, as being deaf.

I have yet to find this William Davis on a census.  He was dead by 1871 but he should be on the 1861 and 1851 censuses.  He maybe of Oxford, he maybe of elsewhere.

Re: Souch -- alas, no, I am not related to any Souch/Zouches but I have interests in Chertsey, Surrey and have microfiche for that parish and I have noticed Souch's there before.  I have also got a knowlege of many ancient families and I have read that Souch is a derivative of Zouch(e).
