If John and Edith had a father or grandfather named Edward, I would make a special trip to Oxford RO, tomorrow...... opps .. typical closed.... on Wed...

Could Sarah the mother have married a Baston when pregnant with Edward

Any Baston marriages you have with a Sarah thats not accounted for?

There's a Martha Hunt.... whose sister Sarah is possibly her gt aunt as well. I got so confused trying to work it out.
It was one of my first searches on RC...  found it... here it is

I have found names Hunt, Simpson, Rose, in North Hinksey that reminded me of that ........   

I think its on the FTM 'cause Lizzy Simpson married Teddy Baston.... son of Thomas Baston and Rose Hudson.

Oh Lawdy, I'm confused already.........

I was never sure of the Sarah Ann/Martha side maybe this is the reason.

just read through it doesnt look like you did i said Thomas died 1868 in workhouse maybe workhouse records nd overseers records might help, did those census refs help?

Edey is Edith/Editha....    not sure if they had Edward as it looks like last child was born 1744.

OOOh, you mean Edey.... the offspring..... well  never thought, took it to be Edith as the mother........
                   Could be Ed....1738.... elusive ED abt 1752.  (1814 died aged 62 in Culham)
