Agnes Marth Coulter

Not sure of date but my father John Morrow was born in 1911 in Newtownards but cant find any record of him either. (info above is from my parents marriage cert)

I have a thread up with more info on it.

There is a agnes coulter married to a james in newtownards but their kids names dont tally but nothing gets ruled out. Perhaps james was james thomas but got thomas?

Re Morrow/Coulter Clan,

Could Agnes Martha possibly have been known as May?  If so, the 1911 Census shows the following Presbyterian family living at Ballycopeland (near Millisle where you say John Henry went to school):
Thomas Morrow, labourer, age 40
May Morrow, wife, age 30 - married 14 years, 5 children all living
Mabel Morrow, age 12
James Morrow, age 9
Thomas Morrow, age 6
Ada Morrow, age 3
John Morrow, age 1

I still have to check the Methodist records but it would be useful if you could let me know if this is the right family.
Newtownards - McDonald, MacDonald, McDonnell, McIlroy, McElroy, O'Neill, Snodden, McClurg, Wallace, Scott
Hilltown/Rathfriland - Magill, Young, Truesdale, Hall, McMahon, Stewart, McIlroy, Hanna, Stranaghan, Hood
Limavady area - Ferguson, Cunningham, Irwin, Smith, McFetridge
Belfast - Harbinson (+ Doagh, Co Antrim) Lawther, Halliday, Rolleston, Rolston, Ralston (+ Keady, Co Armagh)
Ballyrashane/Coleraine area - McAfee, Cochrane
Glenarm - Murphy
Moy/Dungannon - Simons, Hobson, Lutton, McWilliams

Thanks for that, Aghadowey!

MorrowCoulterClan,
I couldn't find anything on Morrows or Coulters in the Newtownards Methodist records but, as I now know they were Presbyterian, that's not surprising.  Since everyone else seems to have pursued the other options I would have suggested (eg Emerald Ancestors, NIFHS, UHF, familysearch) I'm afraid I don't know where else you could look.  Morrow's a fairly common name round here which doesn't help.

Sebrofa,
Sorry, can't find anything in N'Ards Methodist records that definitely ties in with the details you've given.  The only White/Whyte records were the following:

Marriage 3rd January 1868
Samuel Smith, 27, Bachelor, Brickmaker, New Row, Donaghadee son of Samuel Smith, Mason
Isabella White, 27, Spinster, Back Street, Donaghadee, daughter of Alexander White, Sailor
Witnesses John Monk and Agnes White

Marriage 16th January 1885
Henry White, Full Age, Bachelor, Mill Worker, Movilla Street Newtownards, son of Alexander White (deceased) Labourer
Maggie Bennett, Full Age, Spinster, Mary Street Newtownards, daughter of Matthew Bennett (I think the occupation is Carman)
Witnesses John Bennett and Agnes (I think the surname is Edgin)

Baptism 6th September 1896
Born 2nd July 1896
Agnes White, daughter of David and AnnaBella White, Mill Street, Comber

I thought I'd try and see if I could find out any more about David, Mary etc and  I see what you mean.  I couldn't find David's death or a David/Mary marriage in the right location and timeframe either.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Newtownards - McDonald, MacDonald, McDonnell, McIlroy, McElroy, O'Neill, Snodden, McClurg, Wallace, Scott

Thanx aghadowey for showing link to Fiona wasnt sure if i was allowed to do that sorry!

The May Morrow listed in census is May Brazier to her own name not Coulter..It may help someone else though!

I am not sure if they are presbyterian but they are definaltely protestants ..as i cant find any links at all for them that list my father or his family in newtownards and donaghadee district parishes!

I have tried all the links you mentioned but to no avail.

Thanx anyway for your time and trouble greatly appreciated!

Based on the previous searches from the other thread it looks like Agnes Coulter Morrow appears here in 1901 census- she and child are shown as Presbyterian so not sure why you would think otherwise:

See my reply on the other thread since this seems to have little to do with Newtownards Methodist Church-

Hello Fiona! I just stumbled over this thread when I was searching for my husband's grandmother, Mary Ann Adair who is shown in the 1901 census as living in Church Terrace.  The family are presbyterian and Mary was 1 in 1901, so I was wondering if she might appear in the Methodist Church records?  I would be really grateful  for any help - it has taken me 4 years so far to trace Mary Ann, because my husband's mum never talked about  her and all we knew was that she was from Northern Ireland.
