Hello Fiona,
I hope you will be able to help, my 3x great grandmother, Catherine McCormick was born circa 1810 in Comber and I wondered if there was a record of her marriage to David Rea in the Comber register and if you would look it up for me. Thank you it will be much appreciated. Regards

Sorry,  the only Comber Methodist marriage records I have copied are from 1894-1937 (during which time there were only 15 marriages) and the Newtownards Methodist marriage records only start in 1863.  If Catherine was born around 1810 she was most likely getting married between 1830 and 1850.  If it was after 1845 (when she was 35+) you should be able to get a marriage certificate from Newtownards Registry Office.

Hi.  Could you check a marriage in book 6 for me?  Francis Hubert Mulligan to Mary Evelyn Kirkpatrick on 24/04/1937.  What, if any, details are given - witnesses etc.?  Thanks.

Hi there.  The date given in the register is 20th April 1937, not 24th.  Details are :

Groom - Francis Herbert Mulligan, age 21, Bachelor, Estate Agent, Glenbrook Knockbreda Road, Belfast, Father - Francis David Mulligan, Estate Agent

Bride - Mary Evelyn Kirkpatrick, Minor, Spinster - 5 Hamilton Road [I assume Bangor] Father - William James Ainslie Kirkpatrick, Engineer

Witness 1 - Thomas Lendrum [possibly Masters or Martin - but hard to read]
Witness 2 - [possibly Nesa or Meta] Pritchard

Officiating Minister - Samuel H Baxter

I hope that helps.

Hello there
I have just posted before I found your kind offer. 1901 census shows my granny Anna (otherwise Anne but known as Minnie) aged 20 living at 4 Church Terrace, Newtownards with her mother Mary White (widow) aged 54 years and her brother William J White aged 14. It says they were all born in County Down and were methodists.

I have seen my granny and granddads notice of marriage 1902 and it says her father was called David and that he was a Labourer (deceased).  I think something is wrong somewhere with the information though.  I have been searching for 17 years to find my granny as we knew very little about her. So the info on the census is very exciting but a bit puzzling.  I don't know when or where David died or how and who Mary was.  And what happened to William?  My granny went to live in Scotland in 1907 but without William.

I would be very grateful for any help you can give ....so to recap, I think

Anna or Anne was born in County Down in 1881
William J born approc 1866 in County Down
Mary born approx 1847 in County Down
David deceased between 1886  and 1901

All Methodists - allegedly.

Kind regards and living hope

Fiona hasn't been online since Dec.2009 so I'm not sure if this lookup request will be answered.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi Sebrofa,
I haven't had much time for family history this year as I have an 8 month old baby.  I've just seen your request and will have a look at my records tomorrow but, as it's now 1.34am, I'm off to bed!
