Marriage Lookup for family on 1841 England Census
« on: Thursday 05 February 09 02:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

On the 1841 Census there is a Taylor Family living at White Hart Yard:

Thomas Taylor  35
Sarah Taylor  35
John Taylor  9
Anne Taylor  7
Mary Taylor  4
Thomas Taylor  2

I am looking for a marriage between Thomas and Sarah.  Can someone please help me with this?

Many Thanks

Deb

I found that family in 1841, but couldn't find them in 1851 to try to locate parents places of birth. Do you have them in other censuses?

Hi Ruskie,

I can't find them in any other Census.  I know it's strange, they just seemed to disappear.  Although I think i may have found Thomas Taylor Jnr on the 1871 Census.  Thomas Taylor Jnr is 32 on this Census and it lists his occupation as being a "Whitesmith" like his father was.

Hi Ruskie,

Did some searching on Ancestry and found Sarah Taylor a Widow on 1851 Census.  She was residing at 8 Calder Street Leeds with her children: John, Ann, Thomas, William and Henry aged 1.  I can only assume that Thomas Taylor must have died in 1849 or 1850 judging my Henry aged 1.

Does this information help in locating a marriage for Thomas and Sarah?  I know that both Thomas Taylor Snr and Sarah were born in Leeds, Yorkshire.

Not really Deb  :-\

There is a submitted marriage on the IGI for Thomas Taylor and Sarah Roberts 18 Feb 1828, St Peters Leeds. No idea if this is correct of not. Leeds is a big place and the names are common unfortunately.

If I were you I would follow Sarah and the children through the censuses in case they may be resding with a family member in one of them. Might give a clue as to Sarah's maiden name.  :-\

Perhaps someone with some Leeds PR's might be able to locate the couple's marriage.

hi debs
its linda right after you left i kept looking and i found the family on three censuses 1841 1851 and 1861 so sarahs husband thomas must have died between 1841 and 1851 as she is classed as a widow on 1851 but he is there in 1841i have all the details if you want them if you dont already have them

Hi lindi,

Thanks for looking for me but i had those census info.  Just trying to find out more about this family after 1851 Census cause i can't find sarah taylor on any census after 1851 or ann bradley either. I'll have to see if can find ann's brothers on other census.
