Hi Adam

I've just joined Rootschat as I saw your entry for Alfred & Margaret Anderson. They were my Grand Parents. Margaret died when my father was very young, but I did know my Grandfather, Alfred. He died on 18/2/1970. Could you tell me where the cemetery is, please. I also think he was perhaps a Councillor on Tow Law Council. Do you know how I may go about checking this or is an e-mail to the Council the best way?

Thanks

Malcolm

Hello Malcolm. I am glad you found that inscription I posted. The cemetery is on the left as you drive through Tow Law. It is a very large windswept cemetery with most of the gravestones removed for "safety"
Tow Law does have a history web site and I think you may be able to find out more from them regarding any councilor activities from the past.
I have posted the gravestone surnames for Crook, Thornley, Stanley Crook, and other in Wear valley.( just in case your family were in the wider area.

Adam.
