I chanced upon this entry from a search for the Runic. The Runic arrived in Melbourne 3 times in 1911 - in January, May and October. Samuel Greaves did not disembark in Melbourne in that year. However, in May, an Annie Sybil Greaves did. I would assume that a ship travelling from Albany to Melbourne ( and beyond??}, would also stop at Adelaide. Some Australian Electoral rolls are available for searching. This ship appears to have made very good time, as my enquiree arrived in Melbourne in the March of 1912.
It is also highly likely that the ship had stopped at Perth, before Albany. I would wonder about the attraction of Albamy, although I know it had greater significance than being just a whaling station.
A subsequent comment : I checked births - Samuel Cavendish Greaves born Apr - Jun 1882 in Lancashire/Cheshire appears to be enrolled in 1916 at Fremantle, Western Australia and from 1925 at Swan ( in Perth ) WA. Further searching suggests he may not have married and died in Perth in 1950.
Added Wednesday : returned to WA BDM ; for your record. there are 32 GREAVES marriages recorded in WA between 1910 and 1945.
