G Grandparents not living in sin

After many years of trying and failing to find a marriage for my g grandparents I have finally found it. I really believed that they had never married as they had moved down to Lancashire from Carlisle / Dumfries area so it would have been easy to fool people. However today I received a copy of their marriage certificate and they had married, I feel I need to apologise to them, I  now have to find their birth records, that might take me another couple of years
The main reason for this post was to spur on anyone who is struggling, I have been frustrated and disappointed for many years, but I finally found what I needed, so keep going and maybe you will get the eureka feeling I have had today

I've got the same situation - I just can't find a marriage for the couple.  People who remember them insist that they were church-goers and definitely would have married - she would have been his second wife.  I was hoping that the 1911 census would help but it's muddied the waters more because the "years married" information puts them getting married the year before the first wife died!

Best advice going is 'Don't give up.'
The feeling when you finally get that piece of information is wonderful.  Have recently found my grandfather after looking, off and on, for over 25 years! The 1911 CR showed him at home with the family.  He was down as being born in Hertfordshire which was a surprise as I had been told Berkshire. This one thing has given me at least 2 more generations and filled in a big gap in my ancestors. Part of the problem has been errors in oral information but records aren't always reliable!

Well done for keeping looking and then getting the cert.  gives great satisfaction doesn't it.
