Hi

I been through all the marriages 1845 1865 in the marriage 1/4 year indexs for Nottingham/Derbyshire/south Yorkshire
For George White and Charlotte Kirk
The is only one with George White and Kirk

1850 oct-dec quater year. vol 22 page 481

female Emma kirk

District -Rotherham  county -South Yorkshire

The only other is George White X-?

There is two (George White one male name) males and only one Female not Kirk
This does happen and need to contact Rotheham reg office
over this.
1855 vol 9c page 505

Nothing for Doncaster Notts

Also try Joiner directory of Marrages

http://www.joinermarriageindex.co.uk/search.php
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Hi - I believe these Whites are my wife's side of the family. Like you, I came across the problem of the two Georges. My wife's gt grandmother was Kate Maud White (b Tickhill 1895 and m Isaac Elvidge b 1882 Freiston, Lincs). Her father was Thomas b1853 and her mother was Emily b 1854. Thomas's parents were George and Charlotte (both b1818 - I think I took the dates from the 1861 census); George's parents were Samuel 1777-1866 and Ann White, and Samuel's father was John White.
