I'm hoping someone can help me find the father of an illegitimate child.
William John Hendon was born in 1859 in Calne, Wiltshire and was baptised in July 1859 in Wooton Bassett, Wiltshire. Mother was Jane Hendon. Birth certificate is blank for father's details.
Jane was in the Calne workhouse from around 1860 until her death in 1876. Jane was born in 1835 in Compton Bassett to William Hendon and Maria Bradfield.
If somebody has access to the Bastardy Records of this area for this time I would be very grateful to know if there is any record of William's birth and possible father.
Also, if there are any details anywhere of Jane's entry into the workhouse I would be most grateful for any information.
