Hi Geoff. This has been bugging me for some time now. There were many Dodds families in Lincoln, around that time and beyond. I've followed Spilsby and Friskney families in particular, where thay have moved to London, in an effort to find a link. There were other Doddses in Hampshire but I've been unable to find a connection. William and his wife's family all moved to London early 19c where thay remained. (His son's were all shoemakers).
I have always felt, maybe wrongly, that a connection could be found with his employment as a cordwainer.
Near where they lived in London was another large Dodds family, all in the shoemaker trade. If William's age at death was wrongly recorded and should have been 64 then the William Dodds in that family could be the one I'm looking for. That would also have made him older than his wife which appears to have been the norm years ago.
