Hi Biker

I am still looking for any info on Frederick John Lancashire born 1815 The Strand, London.

All I know is he married Caroline Denham on the 4th July 1836@ Christchurch,Spitalfields.

He died in 1869 in Bow.

On the 1861 census the address is 1 Spencer St South, St George in the East.

It is possable that he had a brother called William born approx 1811,who married Emma Blackburn but as yet I cannot confim this. All the family were Coachmaker/painters which was a family tradition. This is what makes me think that the two families are connected.

Any info on where to search now would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Vicki

Here is the 1851 you asked for, just for the record ...  I think this is them, although perhaps they've got the Charlotte wrong?

26 Addle? Hill, St Gregory by St Paul

Frederick Lancashire 36 Painter (Journeyman) b. Westminster
Charlotte 34 b. Wilts Marlborough
Charlotte 13 b. Surrey Blackfriars Road
Frederick 11 b. Surrey Westminster Road?
Charles 9 b. Surrey Stamford St
Walter 6 b. Surrey Blackfriars Road
Henry 3 b. City of London

HO107/1528
Folio:    284
Page:    10

Hi Biker
Thanks for that info, It is good to get the address. Yes it is the right family but both the Charlottes are infact Carolines's, probably is an error when the census was transcribed.

Any idea's of how to track down Fredericks John Lancashires parents, I'm not sure of where to go now?

On this census it is listing him as being born Westminster?
Thanking you in advance for any idea's
 Vicki

Vicki

Regarding finding his parents, Emily has suggested a few things.

As for the census entries, his birthplace fits, as Strand is enumerated in and is a part of Westminster.  If he actually was born in the Strand and you are going to trawl through the parish records you might want to start with the parish records for St Martin in the Fields as this is close.  However this is a bit of guesswork and Westminster is a large area with many parishes so it might take some time and a hard slog.  However his name is reasonably uncommon so ...  :)

Good luck finding him

Regards
Biker
