Hi Vlancashire,

Welcome to Rootschat,

Did you look up your Lancashires on the IGI (at http://www.familysearch.org)? It doesn't seem to have anything that I could find on who Frederick Johns parents could be, but it has the christening of two of his sons, one who is also called Frederick John (b1839), and who then goes on to marry Eliza Ives and have a son who he calls Frederick John (b1860)
The Frederick John b. 1860 seems to be on the 1881 census (same website) living with his mother Eliza (widdowed) and some brothers and sisters at 11 Jane Place Southwark (RG11 0523/36 p.12).
If you are looking for your Frederick John's in earlier cenuses have you tried to find the birth certificates for the younger two Frederick Johns (1839 and 1860) as they are quite close to the census dates and so may give you the address the family are living at?
It should be possible to find these at either http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ or http://www.1837online.com/

This may be the death GRO ref for the middle Frederick John:
Deaths Jun 1878
LANCASHIRE    Frederick John    39    St. Saviour    1d   79  (from FreeBMD)

Hope this is some help to you,

Best Regards
Emily

I know he was born in London probably the city.
He married Caroline Denham, I have the marriage cert but know clues  as to parents name.
Any idea's of where to look now.
thanks VL

Hi VL,

So his father isn't given on the marriage cert? I wonder if he knew who his father was? How do you know that he was born in London, do you have him on a census somewhere?
The marriage cert should have the addresses of the bride and groom at the times of their marriage?
You could try a post in the lookups section of those addresses to see if there were any Lancashires/Denhams living there in 1841as they would probably be relatives.
From the IGI he seems to have got married in Spitalfields ChristChurch Stepney...you could try a post asking if anyone might come across any Lancashires in Stepney in 1841..although you really need an exacter address as there is no index....if you could find him in a census you would at least have a better idea of where exactly he was born.
Do you have a birth cert for either of his sons (Frederick or Charles) as these should have an address on and help you to locate the family in a census.

Sorry I can't be more help, maybe someone else might have more ideas,

Emily

Hello

Unsure whether you're still looking for this information, but the 1861 census indicates his birthyear as 1815 and his birthplace quite clearly as Middlesex, Strand.  A Coach Painter living at 1 Spencer St South, St George in the East with Caroline and children.

If this might be your chap and you haven't already got this informtion, happy to post the full census details

Regards
Jonathan

Hello

I'm doing a bit of housekeeping and noticed this older request.  Wondering if you are still looking for anything on this topic or you have resolved it in the meantime?  If you're still looking, this might be a tough one to find so do you have any further info to add that might assist finding them?

If we don't hear from you in a while, I'll assume the latter and move it to the 'completed' section.
